Was making the morning rounds of blogs I have saved in Google Reader andfound a fairly long winded but interesting post on various facets of being Anon on the internet. The following portion made was amusing enough to warrant a link and a quote.
I’ve since taken the stance that none of that shit really matters, and now have my XBL gamertag as Ericksen. Here’s a hint if you can’t figure out the meaning: it’s my last name. I certainly could have gone with “BlaZzZin FurEY 420 Smokolot” or something, but felt like my last name was a better representation of who I am. There are no Xs in it, I know… it’s pretty mundane.
While my characters in WoW are all named some variation on Isobelle, I make no excuses about broken microphones or missing sound codecs online. I’ll jump in vent with a PUG (OMGURADOOD?), and actually am usually the first one to offer up my guild’s server IP just so I don’t have to type. I even go gentle on the fragile ones and tell them that I don’t care if they never say a word. It’s just easier for me personally if you can listen to what I tell you, without ME having to type. You can type all day if you want to, knock yourself out. I personally prefer saying “focus fire on the skull icon” than typing it during a botched pull.
The whole post is not about this specific train of thought but covers several aspects of anon on the ‘net. I just found this part particularly humerous because there always seems to be at least one person in any guild of reasonable size I have been in who plays the “my michrophone is broken” card, and they are always female characters. I also think the xXxnamegoesherexXx names are pretty freakin stupid on xBox live. They also seem to be the ones I end up having to mute because they are morons who try to talk smack constantly. (Texas Holdem being hte worst) Texas holdem on the xbox is fun until the 3rd or forth time the table crashes and you loose your bankroll btw. Good thing it is fake money.

Trauma
Minor trauma really happened last night, but still felt kinda crummy about it. We deguilded from our EQ2 guild of nearly a year. The previous guild was an easy one to cut ties with. This one however is a different story. We really like all, and I mean all the members. They are a great bunch of folks and not seeing them in guild chat is going to take quite some time. Our reason for leaving was game advancement tho. We are playing a game and when advancement stalls it gets kinda frustrating. Hopefully this new guild will move us a long and be another good bunch of folks.
The 2nd trama to report today was inflicted on my wife. I have been sporting one form or another of facial hair for the last 3 years. For the last few months I have had a beard. I mentioned in passing last week I was thinking about going clean. Well I woke this morning and was not up for trimming it, so off it came. Then I walked in to Joani’s office while she was checking mail and said good morning. The expression on her face was one of suprise, shock and slight unease as she took it all in. She vowed vengeance and I fear her reprisal!
How does this work?
Felt pretty good all week and then last night, out of the blue I sneezed. Then sneezed again. I took a hit of vitamine c, went to bed and woke up about 4 am with a sore throat and my sinus filled with some serious cloggage. Now I am sitting at work having problems focusing on anything and feeling aches attempting to take over.
It was like someone flipped the sick switch on me.

Ok, so I get a call from a user who says “I need all my passwords reset, I bumped my head and have forgotten a few things.” So while I was logging into the server to start helping him I asked the question, “Were you in a car accident?” “No, I was pruning a tree and has a mishap. I’d like to say I learned something from the experience, but I can’t remember it.”
To which I replied, “Well you could say you learned to call a tree service.” “Yeah that is what the doctor said too.”
At this point I had gotten logged into everything I needed to, confirmed his identity and reset the passwords I could. I asked, “Can you give that a try please to be sure you can get logged in?”
“Yes, I’ll need to put you on speaker phone if that is ok, my computer is not very close to the phone, and I am missing a finger.”
