NAPG Instagram PhotoWalk

I finally made it to a NAPG (North Alabama Photographers Guild) meeting tonight. I have been a member of the Flickr group for several months, posted photos to the group and gone to one other event.. tonight was the first time the stars aligned and I made a meeting. One of the planned activities was an Instagram photowalk (non iPhone users were welcome to walk as well) One before and after the meeting. I was barely able to get to the meeting on time and this was a big one.

Final total was 23 apparently. I took this before a couple more folks showed up and we had to add another table. The food was good, the meeting was loud :) I managed to catch bits and pieces of conversations. Check out the flickr group for more on the people and their photos. Really nice bunch.

The photowalk was a nice stroll around Bridgestreet, iPhones in hand and Instagram loaded. Instagram is an app with a handful of filters to apply to shots, a small image size and a way to share the photos with your circle of instagram friends. You can also upload from the app to twitter, flickr, facebook and tumblr. If you don’t have an iPhone but want to get a feel for what Instagram is all about, check out Webstagram, it is a website that lets you view the photos without an iPhone.

And now one to my shots with little to no commentary, my personal feed by the way, is viewable at Buzzregog on Webstagram

First shot was of the merry-go-round, since it was right outside of Terry’s Pizza, the location of all the NAPG meetings.

Next was a try at catching the fading sunset.

A line of clouds catching the last rays of the sun.

It was a photowalk, so the bricks seemed appropriate.

Some needed a break, so we stepped into the Monaco, and I saw another floor opportunity.

And finally the best shot of the night for me, a wall on the back side of some shops not far from the waterfalls outside the Westin.

Day 70 TiltShift version

You know me and that TiltShift thing…

Sitting on a particularly long call today I grabbed yesterday’s mushroom picture and ran it through tiltshiftgen. Came out pretty decent.

Project 365 – Day 64

Not sure what this thing is, but it sure looked cool leaning up against a brick wall. Nice mix of clean metal and rust. Loved the industrial look of the recessed screws too.

Project 365 – Day 56

Geodes in the counter. Took this at a local Spa, late to give it a full description due to internet problems.. Processed this on the iPhone using film lab. The counter has some nice things going on, it is semi transparent so you get lighting from below and lots of reflections. Hard to tell which is which in this shot.

Project 365 – Day 55

Reading with a friend. Stumbled on this guy and his dog hanging out in the window of a local bookstore enjoying one of our first sunny days this year.  They both seemed to be intent in their respective tasks.

Project 365 – Day 40

Once again I return to the iPhone, a parking lot, and TiltShiftGen. Like the light and angle in this one. One of these maybe I’ll get a Lens Baby for the Canon.

Project 365 – Day 39

Saw fairly perfect tread pattern in the partially melted snow left over when i returned to my car at lunch today. Grabbed a couple of shots with the iPhone, then processed it in Lo-Mob to give it that old Polaroid crime scene photo look.

Project 365 – Day 34

Timed it just right this morning to catch the train again. Not by design mind you, but offered an opportunity for another shot of it shooting by. Processed with TiltShiftGen on the iPhone.

Project 365 – Day 33

Time to fall back on my good old tiltshift and iPhone. I am a sucker for taking a shot with the iPhone and then manipulating the image with TiltShiftGen, so here is another one.

Project 365 – Day 28

Stopped by a local used book store I like to check out every now and then. I don’t have the time to read nearly as much as I used to, but there is something about dropping in here and seeing what is on the new arrivals shelves I just can’t kick. Unlike most of the used bookstores in town this one Book Legger has pretty much anything, not just an abundance of romance. Don’t get me wrong they have plenty of those available, but they have a quality variety of everything else as well.
